Su Japanese Restaurant Gumdale, Brisbane - Vegan Food Review

One of the biggest thing I’m loving about 2018 is how many new restaurants are putting vegan options on their standard menu, with the majority of my friends and families being omnivores I like to go to places that include all dietary options.

“Sushi has always been a favourite of mine so when a new Japanese Sushi Restaurant opened near me I was excited to try it and see what they had to offer. ”

Although heavily seafood and meat based the menu had enough vegan options that I was excited to be able to pick and choose from a selection rather than limited to one or two options.

After a little deliberation I decided to go with the Gyozas for starter and the Crispy Tofu Salad for my main.

The gyozas were perfect in both taste and texture and were devoured by all members of my group, not just the veggie lovers, and the dressing complemented them beautifully.

Unlike some tofu salads which can be heavy an overly oily, this one was fresh and with a light tangy dressing. The Tofu was silken tofu which added another interesting texture to the dish and the “batter” was thin and crisp. It was almost like eating savoury marshmallows!

The service was impeccable with our hostess being attentive and helpful in choosing dishes for the whole party and although the restaurant was extremely quiet the atmosphere was warm and welcoming.

The kids really enjoyed their meals with options such as Japanese Chicken and Chips proving a hit with one while the Sushi Rolls were given the seal of approval by the others.

Prices were fantastic with main meals ranging from $13 upwards and the quality was exceptional.

My only suggestion would be the addition of a vegan miso soup to the menu and maybe a few shitake mushroom dishes to give some non-soy based options.
