Why do betting losses affect mindset so strongly

Losses in betting seem to have a strong emotional impact, even when expected. I’m curious why they affect mindset so much. Maybe it’s about expectations or money involved. It can influence future decisions if not handled well. I’d like to understand how to reduce that emotional impact. How do you stay unaffected after losses?
